When you were a kid, did you have homework? Most probably, yes. In fact, I am absolutely positively sure that you had to deal with homework as long as you went to school. There’s just no escaping it.
But, you did turn out knowledgeable and educated, right?
Homework – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
In general, we can say that being assigned with homework is a good thing. It makes kids responsible and the act or researching and answering questions will hone their skills in dealing with problems.
It can just be a little frustrating when we see our kids struggling to keep up with their assignments. As parents, we just hate seeing our children having a difficult time – even if it’s about school tasks or other things.
However, homework never did kill anybody. In fact, even the pressure of dealing with a lot of assignments can prove to be challenging. And this will help build your kids’ character as they grow up.
Why Parents Should Show Support to Their Kids
It would be good for parents to help and support their children when dealing with homework. Even if you are not able to help them with the actual assignments, words of encouragement will still inspire your kids to finish their homework so that they can get good grades.
So yes, kids should have homework to keep them serious in their studies. It also teaches them to be responsible and self reliant.
To balance out the demands of school work, however, kids should be given ample time to rest, relax, and have a good time too.
And that’s what weekends are for.
So make it a point that your kids have play time, movie time, and anything-goes time when it’s not a school day. This will keep them well grounded, secure, and happy with their lives.
